Thaughts in the Air

Whenever I peek through the tiny rectangular window from a slowing ascending airplane, I feel like transforming into a whole new being. Not exactly godly or supernatural but I feel more or less dehumanized with the creator-like angle. This dehumanizing process temporarily deprives me of any man-made boundaries I acquire willingly or unwillingly.

What do I mean by man-made boundaries? One of the most common examples is nationality, a product of the civilized modern politics. The current world operates in such a way that one's mobility is limited within a certain political boundary. If one wants to cross these boundaries and enter a new territory, one has to send applications to the political institutions which represents that particular area. What a fascinating and bizarre idea to the Indian people in North America if they were to know about this. Back then, the power of a chief or a tribe for example does not occupy an area circled by boundaries. Instead, the power expands from a high intensity point and gradually being marginalized as the distance increases. These boundaries and power, whatever we would like to call it, disappear if one view the world from above. All you see are natural landscapes being segmented and disturbed by human-built ones. Then you would realize how powerful human beings are, even being viewed from a godly perspective.
